We’ve just added a new category to uyB - specifically for photos.

Any photos on flickr tagged “upyerbrum” will automatically go into it from now on - and while we’re at it could we (very politely) ask that since these are automatically added it would be good if you could make sure the images have a title in flickr when you tag, otherwise it makes the upyerbrum page look a little bare.

For those of you caught up in the whole facebook phenomenon, you might be interested in our upyerbrum app. At the moment it acts in a similar way to our badge, putting the top five stories on your profile page, but we’ll work on making it a bit more facebooky and interactive.

You can now use < img > tags in upyerBrum descriptions - which means that if you submit a flickr pic you can show a tiny thumbnail for people to look at. Images tagged ‘upyerbrum’ on flickr will automatically appear with thumbnials.

What’s great about Birmingham? You decide.

You can submit a link to upyerbrum for any story which shows how great Birmingham is. If others agree their votes will push the story to the top of the pile.

- It’s kinda like Digg.com, but for Birmingham.

What can you submit? Well, it could be a written story, a film, podcast or photo. You may have seen it on the BBC or a local newspaper site, on a blog or a school site, even one you’ve written yourself and put on the web. All that counts is you thing is shows something great about Birmingham.

How to submit stories?

Directly: Add the web address of a story. To do this you will need to register and log in.
Indirectly: Tag it upyerbrum. Use this tag on your own pictures, blog entries, youtube films etc and these will appear on our front page - for users to vote on.

We’re still working on upyerBrum.com - it’s , in a very web 2.0 way, in sort of a beta stage. Please use it - and tell us what you think, what we’ve got wrong or right - either by commenting here on the blog, or by email hello@upyerbrum.com.
